“Pieces of Her Soul”

This piece was created after reflecting on my time in NYC for the Basquiat: King Pleasure exhibition. I learned so much about an incredible artist as well as experienced some more intimate details of his life, as the exhibition was curated by his family, and deeply resonated with some of what his family shared about him. After the exhibition, my husband and I spent time walking the Highline and I was amazed at the architecture of the Lantern House. In this piece, I really wanted to represent my fascination with that experience and the day in general. It was a day where of piece of my soul was opened to the potential of what could truly be for me, as a contemporary artist.
