Description
“Dying to Self”
18″ x 24″ inch Triptych (Each canvas measures 18 x 24 inches)
Acrylic Paint on Stretched Canvas
This piece was created to represent the changes we experience as we move through life. When we are born, we are free, no conditioning, no indoctrinations, just our purest selves. As we travel through life, we begin to pick up ideas, thoughts, behaviors, energy, and patterns (both voluntary and involuntary) that aren’t ours to begin with. We begin to resemble less of our true selves and more of others who hold the power of influence over us. Some people live like this, never questioning, never wondering, never exploring, never diving deeper.
The last canvas shows what our lives have potential to look like when we never take our power back. Like logs drifting in water, we are tossed and turned in every direction the wind blows. No sense of direction, understanding of self, or purpose. Forever severed and disconnected from who we’re meant to be.
But this piece is also an invitation to hope. If air is still flowing in your lungs, you have time to discover who you truly are. The process is often challenging and frustrating, but well worth it.
